"You must be
the change you want to see." ~ Mahatma Gandhi, 1869-1948
This is truly one of my most favorite famous quotations. Others besides Gandhi have expressed essentially the same idea. Also, Gandhi is credited with saying this in a variety of ways.
For those who don't quite understand it as stated, I sometimes clarify it by saying one of the following statements:
* "You must become the changes you want to experience."
* "You must become the changes that you want to see manifested."
* "You must embody in you the changes that you want to see in the world."
* "Become inside what you want to see outside."
Many people are saying such words these days without quite understanding or believing them. Saying the words is a worthy starting place. However, you must carry with you the consciousness that reflects your desires.
What change do YOU want to see in the world?
Is it World Peace you want in the world? If so, you must be peaceful in your heart. You must be peaceful with those in your own everyday world. In addition, you must turn off the input that tells you the world is at war. If you want world peace, you must stop the worry, stop the angry thoughts, and stop feeding non-peace.
Do you want to see the magnificence of flowers blooming everywhere? If so, feel the flowers in your heart and you will see blooms and the essence of flowers everywhere you go.
Is there something else you want to see changed? If so, what do you need to change in yourself to see that dynamic outside you? Or, what is the perception you need to change so that you can see the change you want to see?
What you want to see through your eyes can be one of the most profound opportunities for inner Personal Development. The power of your own vision to change your world is beyond what you might recognize until you look.
Reflecting right now, what is the change you want to see in a specific person or, more generally, in the world?
I invite you to write your comment below. If that does not appeal to you, I encourage you to just take a few minutes and reflect on this question quietly.
